For prospective postgraduate students we offer three specialist programmes of taught Masters: the MA in Sociology and Global Change , the MA in European Urban Cultures, and the MA Criminology.
Postgraduate Research opportunities (for the degree of PhD) are available in a wide range of areas, reflecting the strength and diversity of academic research within the Department. More on admissions and enrolment can be found at the Research Student Information website.
The Department is home to the Policy and Evaluation Research Unit (PERU) , which runs under the direction of Professor Chris Fox. In addition to evaluating policies, programmes and projects and advising national and local policy-makers on the development of evidence-informed policy, PERU runs the Greater Manchester Crime Futures project, which conducts work on the relationship between crime and the economy in Greater Manchester.
