Cultural Adventure
1st Place & Grand Prize
Aaron Pierce, "Fruit Market in Havana, Cuba", Havana, Cuba
A fruit vendor sells fresh mangos, plantains, and other fruits in one of the fruit markets that IUPUI students visited in Havan
2nd Place
Angelia Wimbley, "Kindness to all Creatures," Ban Phon, Thailand
On the second morning of our home stay with a host family, were invited to join the villagers in giving alms to monks from area temples. It was doubly heartwarming as a dog lover to witness and capture the kindness also bestowed upon this curious pup.
3rd Place
Michelle Haddix, "A Moment Still," Accra, Ghana
This man in downtown Accra holds his child as he watches the chaos. Imagine the world around you spinning. It is a world where the sidewalk is your front yard and taxis never stop running.
Most Picturesque
1st Place
Lisa Edgington, "Reflections", San Pedro de Atacama, Chile
This photo was taken on my I-phone by a fellow classmate while visiting the Tebenquiche Lagoon in San Pedro de Atacama, Chile. The Cone shaped, snow capped mountain is the Licanabur Volcano. It was a beautiful warm day, in winter, and the water, as well as the sky, was breathtakingly clear.
2nd Place
Adrian Smoot, "La Tranquilidad (Tranquility)", Cienfuegos, Cuba
Handmade fishing boats afloat in the natural harbor of a small southern Cuban town overlooed by a colonial era fortress. In the midst of our fast paced lives, it reminds us of a much simpler life.
3rd Place
Don Capouch, "Rhino Sunrise", Kenya
Early morning on Lake Nakuru. The White Rhinoceros eats her fill while sunlight gleams off her hide.
Most Unusual
1st Place
Katherine Miller, "Secure Love", Paris, France
While on our way to see the Louvre Musuem we crossed over the Seine River on this bridge which was covered with locks. These locks indicated the many French lovers who have secured their love by a kiss on the bridge and the placement of a lock. There were old, new and bicycle locks of all shapes and sizes covering this bridge. It was quite romantic.
2nd Place
Steven Chase, "I've already eaten, stop bugging me.", Guangzhou, China
The Southern Chinese tend to find more creative sources of food. It's interesting to know that bugs I've been afraid of my whole life have been consumed for thousands of years. It might be unusual for Americans, but for the Chinese, it's part of the circle of life.
3rd Place
Zachary Ringler, "Snow Light," Shitsuko, Japan
Snow sculptures in Shitsuko Japan.
IUPUI Students Abroad

Jeremy Sherer, "In the bullfighting arena just after Brandon Kellinghaus (right) and I (left) ran with the bulls", Pamplona, Spain
In the bullfighting arena just after Brandon Kellinghaus (right) and I (left) ran with the bulls
2nd Place
Aaron Pierce, "Omar explains Old Havana", Havana, Cuba
Omar brought students to the roof of his local apartment building so that he could explain the layout and restorations projects of Old Havana from a higher vantage point where students could see a great deal of Old Havana. Omar's unique classroom is certainly off the well-beaten tourist tracks and it was a real honor to be granted such access to Omar's community.
3rd Place
Zachary Ringler, "Serene", Taipai, Taiwan
Fellow Hakuoh student exploring the culture of Taiwan.
