Research Scientist, Next Generation Services – Group Units

Telenor Research and Future Studies (RFS) is Telenor’s corporate unit for research. The unit conducts research and delivers research based advice on topics such as technology shifts, customer excellence, new services, competitive strategy, and advanced data analytics.
The Next Generation Services department is researching how future digital services can be produced and distributed, which delivery technologies will be used and how these affect the telecom business. Current projects are focusing on NFC services, cloud services, personalized services, future service ecosystems, and QoS differentiation.

We are now seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist with background from Computer Science, Telematics or similar, to strengthen our work on QoS differentiation in an end-to-end, multiprovider setting. The ideal candidate has an academic track record and capabilities to publish in highly ranked academic journals. Furthermore, you should be keen to take on the challenge of combining technology research with developing research based strategic advice for Telenor.

Job description

Participate in ongoing research and advisory activities in the departement, with initial focus on the cross-disciplinary research program “End-to-end Differentiated Services”
Identify and pursue research within topics of high importance for Telenor´s strategic agenda
Develop strategic and operative recommendations and implications of the research results and present to relevant stakeholder
Continous monitoring of technology trends which will influence Telenor´s business positions, as well as our competitors positions
Conduct research in close collaboration with national and international universities and research communities

Qualifications

A Phd (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Telematics or similar
Broad understanding of computer systems and computer networks
Specialisation within one or more of the following topics: modeling and analysis of QoS/QoE, system dependability analysis, QoS analysis of virtualized infrastructures (Network and IT), SLA management
Excellent analytical skills with capability to publish academic papers in highly ranked academic journals
Understanding of and interest in the Telecom industry
