Elysian Cafe in Hoboken, New Jersey, just fits the neighborhood. Named after the famed Elysian Fields where the first baseball game was played in 1846, Elysian Cafe has the look and feel of a turn-of-the-century establishment. From it’s antique bars to the metal ornamental ceilings, it is like walking back in time.  Ames, the general manager, says that the cafe is all about nostalgia and he even dresses the part –– plaid pants and all!

Eugene Flinn, the owner, extols the value of not only accepting Discover, but of using his own Discover card to earn the cashback rewards for his business. “I got a Discover card for myself and once I started using it, I realized the value. Now, when I see someone using it, I think how smart they are. I use the card for cashback rewards for myself and I see my customers doing the same thing.”

Discover gives Elysian Cafe great marketing support, and the promotions during different times of the year also help the business. “It really is about choice,” says Eugene. “As a retailer, I feel really good about my customers using the card. It’s a relationship that I feel goes beyond just using a credit card, because I feel strongly about how Discover helps my business.”
