TrustTheVote is a project of the Open Source Digital Voting (OSDV) Foundation, which is funded, in part, by individual donations. While directed grants from government and other grantor organizations fund specific work of the TrustTheVote Project, the OSDV Foundations depend on people like you to support the overall project and to defray our operational costs.
What Makes Supporting This Effort Especially Worthy
Casting and counting ballots of public elections cannot be a for-profit enterprise. The specter of special interests and compromising agendas is too great. And whenever shareholder interests collide with the pubic interest, the result is most likely to be in favor of shareholders.
In order to ensure integrity in our systems of elections, we believe publicly owned voting technology, built and maintained in an accurate, transparent, trustworthy, and secure manner is imperative. No longer can the cornerstone of democracy – how we vote – be left to the private sector or government alone. This stuff is critical democracy infrastructure. And the TrustTheVote Project intends to protect that infrastructure. We think that’s a hugely worthy cause. We hope you agree.
