mySheen! Posted by Ron on April 13, 2011 Due to all of Charlie Sheen's recent antics, he's become more popular than ever. Oddly enough, that turned out to be a good thing for me, as a few years ago I did a Sheen caricature that is now being used in a new iTunes app. Cool! In other news, I'm about 95% done with my Toon It Up comic strip collection, now officially titled All Tooned Up and No Place To Go! As soon as I have the cover art finished, I'll be posting it as well as letting you know when and where it can be purchased. See ya soon!
The Hard Life of Mike!
It's been a busy couple of months but you'll soon see the fruits of that labor in the form of a Toon It Up book. That's right! In a few short weeks you'll be able to read all of the Toon It Up comic strips, as well as some that have never been seen, within the pages of a perfect-bound paperback. As soon as I have more details, I'll be sure to pass them your way! Until then, though, here's a brand-new guest strip from Bill Charbonneau, creator of the hilarious Small Market Sports comic. If you haven't already, be sure to check it out when you get a chance!
A Man Barely Alive!
Happy New Year! As part of my New Year's Resolutions, I vowed to try to draw every day in 2011, something that was severely lacking last year. Most of the drawing so far has been a revamping of my character designs for an ongoing project that I've been working on but the one thing I did start and finish was this cartoon of Lee Majors as Steve Austin, The Six Million Dollar Man. This was inspired by a Christmas gift to myself, The Six Milion Dollar Man Complete DVD Series Collection. I'm only through Season Two but am really enjoying the trip back to my childhood. If you're a fan, I strongly recommend that you pick it up! Enjoy and see you soon!
Happy Holidays!
Where No Mic Has Gone Before!
My anticipation of the debut album by the awesome new punk band Five Year Mission fueled this new Toon It Up comic!
Check out the hilarious music videos at their website and preorder their Year One CD while you're there!
Percussion Face!
Here's a brand-new Toon It Up comic for your viewing pleasure! I thought since rimshots were part of a drum's repertoire that Boomer would have a reputation for telling bad jokes. Let me know what you think!
The Kelvinator!
Take Me Away From The Ballgame!
The last Small Market Sports guest strip (for now) is up today for your perusal. You can thank my sister for this one. I needed the name of someone who did a horrible job singing the National Anthem and thought of Roseanne. When I asked my sis, she came up with her too. Guess it was meant to be!
The Way We Weren't!
The second of my three guest strips is up at Small Market Sports today. This was my favorite of the three and I thought I captured Doug's personality perfectly. Check it out!
It's A Sports World After All!
When I told Bill Charbonneau, creator of the hilarious Small Market Sports comic that I'd do a guest strip for him, I didn't think it through as far as my knowledge of sports. Or lack thereof. But that didn't stop me from not only doing one, but three guest comics. Though this first strip sums up my frantic realization pretty well, the two strips that will follow turned out even better. Enjoy!
Mr. Rip Tide Rocks The House!
Kung Fu Grip!
Schlitt Happens!
Gettin' Billionaire Industrialist With It!
Gettin' Industrial With It!
Dude, Where's My 'Za?!
This new strip introduces the first new character since Larry joined the Toon It Up gang several years ago. I hope you'll all join me in welcoming Boomer to the fold (place obligatory clapping sounds here). I'm not sure yet exactly how he'll fit into the circle of friends that I've created but everyone else has fallen into place pretty naturally so I assume Boomer will do the same. As far as the subject matter, something similar happened to someone in my family awhile back and I wrote it down, knowing I'd just have to use it one day. Today is that day! In other news, I'm working on a couple of new/old projects that I'll hopefully be able to fill you in on soon. So stay TOONed!
Look What Marshall Dragged In!
Poison vocalist, star of VH1's Rock Of Love and new Celebrity Apprentice champ Bret Michaels has had a lot of well-documented health problems as of late but the latest update begged for a Toon It Up comic (now in color!). I do have to add that I wish Bret no ill will whatsoever and hope everything works out for his full recovery. As a side-note, I think the funniest line in today's strip is when Marshall says "Pardon me for being crass..." since it's not very often that he isn't.
Black Widow!
I haven't had a chance to see Iron Man 2 yet but here's my take on Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow from the film. I decided to try my new PITT brush Pen on this piece and I really like the look. Oh, Horror!
Helloooo 2010! I'm back from the dead and ready to unleash some new artwork on an unsuspecting cyberworld. First up is a one-off comic strip I did for my buddy Brian Maze's book, 13 Hosts, that made its debut at the Horrorhound Convention in Indianapolis.
Stay TOONed in the next days and weeks for news on the return of Pete & Pig as you've never seen them, as well as an all-new all-color Toon It Up with the first new cast members in years! See you soon!
