Our walker is committed to participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. It’s a big commitment, one that will require me to spend the next several months training and fundraising. But breast cancer is a big disease, one that still affects far too many people, and she is determined to do everything she can to help put an end to it.
This walk is being dedicated to her mother, a breast cancer survivor.
The money she raises will be managed and disbursed by the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade to help provide access to care for those who most need it, fund educational programs, and accelerate research into new treatments and potential cures. She’ll be just one of thousands of people who will walk up to 39.3 miles over two days, raising awareness promoting education.

The winners of Trion’s recent Joy of Dimensions contest were awarded one very cool reward– an early key to the new Moonshade Highlands dimension currently in development. This dimension, which is being called Moonshade Pools, will most likely be released in 2.3. It was held back from being released in 2.2 due to the lack of structural buildings inside the dimension. During the course of the Joy of Dimensions live stream series, dimension fans requested some of the tiny hovels found elsewhere in Moonshade Highlands. These hovels haven’t made it into the Moonshade Pools dimension the contest winners are now able to enjoy, but they’ll be there when RIFT 2.3 goes live.
For now, the empty Moonshade Pools dimension is currently up for public preview on the Deepwood shard. Despite the fact that we’re right in the middle of RIFT’s second anniversary and Sanctum, Meridian, and the dock area of Tempest Bay are full of cheerful NPCs, colorful balloons, and carnival games galore, there’s one thing missing among the festivities on many shards. One group of things, rather. Well, okay, not things exactly. People. Despite the popularity of last year’s Carnival of the Ascended, this year our carnival grounds seem a little sparse.
Not all shards are experiencing this sparseness, of course, but even on high and medium population shards, folks are noticing the lack of carnival goers. I know I have. It was hard to miss the giant raids of balloon stompers last year even on low population shards. This year, the first day had a few smaller raids forming up on the two PvE shards I frequent, but now even during peak hours there are rarely more than three people wandering through any of the carnival attractions. So, what gives? Why aren’t the carnival games as popular as they were last year?
This year’s Carnival of the Ascended is now well underway. We have games to enjoy, spacebars to wear out, and plenty of currency to collect. There has been a few new additions this year as well as some pretty hefty changes from last year’s Carnival of the Ascended. This guide will go over all of the reward vendors, carnival games, and the current activities, repeatable quests, and regular quests associated with the first two phases of the world event that marks RIFT’s second anniversary celebration.

The PTS (Public Test Shard) can be a fun place. We can test new builds, gear setups, new raids that are currently in development, and oh yeah– explore cool places like Dendrome! A few players have been romping through invisible walls and alternate, uh, areas in order to take a sneak peek at what Trion has cooking for us in the Dendrome zone.

The addition of a new expansion is always an exciting time. There are, however, always some downsides. The biggest with any first expansion seems to be the level grind. The worst spot, that little hump before you can start the shiny new content. I’m talking, in the case of RIFT, about the mid level 40s.
There are some clever ways of dealing with these issues. Before the XP was nerfed, crafting was a viable means for alts to level. However, in the wake of the XP reduction on SL (Storm Legion) crafting dailies, what is the best method for getting from 46 to SL with ease? I am about to tell you exactly how! SL quests. I know, you have to be 48 to start in Cape Jule or Pelladane. However, there are some quests you can do in later zones that will level you quickly… and you won’t even have to do the impossible and kill mobs! Even better, it works for new players as well as alts. Here’s how, for both Defiants and Guardians:
In Trion’s last live stream that took place Friday, Elrar showed off some of the new items we’ll be able to grab when Carnival of the Ascended 2013 goes fully underway in the coming weeks. He showed off a new mount that will be available who’s named Aurora. Aurora is a recolored version of Nebula from last year and is a galaxy-inspired steed that’s lighter blue in color and features a mane with icy fire effects. She also breaths out a frozen cloud of vapor every now and then.
Aurora, Nebula, and Tindrel (the clanking spider) will all be available this year. From the sounds of it, Pyrite Doubloons, which were what was used to purchase the two mounts last year, will not be making a return this year. That may mean that the mounts may be purchasable with Glass Beads or obtained during a quest similar to the quests involved in choosing one of the mounts from both Fae Yule and Autumn Harvest.
