Join Junkies Nation in helping our walker get ready for her walk to help Fight Breast Cancer through the Avon Foundation. Junkies Nation is proud to be part of the fight against breast cancer and we hope that you join us with a small donation.

Our walker is committed to participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. It’s a big commitment, one that will require me to spend the next several months training and fundraising. But breast cancer is a big disease, one that still affects far too many people, and she is determined to do everything she can to help put an end to it.

This walk is being dedicated to her mother, a breast cancer survivor.

The money she raises will be managed and disbursed by the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade to help provide access to care for those who most need it, fund educational programs, and accelerate research into new treatments and potential cures. She’ll be just one of thousands of people who will walk up to 39.3 miles over two days, raising awareness promoting education.

She can’t do this without your help, please donate now.

Guild Missions: Has the Dust Settled?

Since the implementation of guild missions a couple of weeks ago, the Guild Wars 2 community has expressed a wide variety of, well, concern. A significant portion of small-to-medium guilds have not been able to even start the process of learning guild missions because of the high Influence requirements as well as the fact that the Art of War guild upgrades need to have been unlocked before a guild bounty can be unlocked. Right before the update, we saw a developer blog where smaller guilds were reassured that they would be able to participate in guild missions with ease. Unfortunately, the result is that while players can technically participate in another guild’s mission, they cannot earn the valuable rewards for participating.

This leaves a smaller guild with few options. The guild can merge with another, larger guild, which would work nicely for guild missions, but might harm either guild community. The guild can also actively recruit, which is probably the most effective possibility, but also extremely difficult when large guilds right now already offer a large chunk of guild missions and challenges. The third option is to unlock guild missions using gold. This seems to be the route that many smaller guilds are currently taking, but it’s proving to be a difficult road so far.

Question Box Thingy: ArenaNet & Communication

We all have things we love about Guild Wars 2, places that make us cheer out and say “yes, this is my ultra-mega place!” We all have classes, abilities, and features we’re passionate about, either negatively or positively. This is a place to share all that. Once a week I’ll be raising a Guild Wars 2 question to the community– hopefully an interesting one– and we’ll share our opinions. I’ll start off with my opinion just to get the ball rolling, but these questions will not have any right or wrong answers, so feel free to argue with me to your heart’s content!

Despite the fact that we’re in the middle of ArenaNet’s latest adventure in bringing us different styles of world events and corresponding updates every other month or so, there was one update that didn’t make February’s cut, and well… let’s just say it’s a bit of an elephant in the room for many dedicated GW2 players. Yep, I’m talking about the big, exciting, promised WvW update. I don’t think the update being pushed back was nearly as drastic a matter as many folks on the official forums made it out to be, but it still was a disappointment for many.

The trouble with disappointments in an MMORPG is that they’re never good for the game. With as varied of a playerbase ArenaNet is hoping to entice into sticking around, there is bound to be a little bit of disappointment, and that’s kind of the problem that many MMO developers are currently running into. Developers attempt to do too much. They try and create updates for every single feature of the game at the same time in order to please everyone at the same time. This simply isn’t possible without a ginormous staff and/or plenty of features planned years in advance. The bottom line is that when MMO developers take this “gotta please ‘em all!” mindset, someone’s probably going to end up disappointed at the end of the day.
