Students and staff in HaSS will benefit from the results of a £38M investment package to provide state of the art faculty accommodation, study space and specialised teaching facilities.
The investment package includes the migration of the Jordanhill Campus to the John Anderson Campus where students and staff formerly based at Jordanhill have joined a thriving university community in the heart of the city.
Postgraduate research students now have access to a brand new Graduate School on level 1 of the Lord Hope Building. The Graduate School accommodation includes desk top computers, meeting rooms, chill out areas and a dedicated team of support staff to assist with enrolment, funding applications and course supervision.
Most members of staff in HaSS are now based in the newly refurbished Lord Hope Building with associated specialised teaching facilities in the Curran Building. Areas of the Graham Hills Building have also been refurbished to accommodate Sport & Physical Activity.
The Lord Hope Building is open to all students, staff and visitors. The layout on each floor means that many members of staff are working in shared space environments. Students, colleagues and visitors should go to the reception area on each floor where they will be greeted by a friendly member of staff on arrival. Signage will guide you to the appropriate level.
The Lord Hope Building has its own cafe! Come and join staff and students in the new chill out area on level 1 where you can study, have a bite to eat or use wifi to access the internet.
The Curran Building is also known as the University Library and is located adjacent to the Lord Hope Building. Like the Lord Hope Building, the layout on each floor means that many members of staff are working in shared space environments. Students, colleagues and visitors should go to the reception area on each floor where they will be greeted by a friendly member of staff on arrival. Signage will guide you to the appropriate level.
In addition to office hours and arranging meetings, all of our students can ‘drop-in’ to see tutors. For students visiting tutors located in the Lord Hope and Curran Buildings, it just means that instead of knocking on a door they visit the School's reception desk first.
All students should check their timetable for teaching locations. Specific details regarding contact telephone numbers and individual staff locations can be found via the following link:
