Civic Data Challenge

Working with the Knight Foundation and the National Conference on Citizenship (NCoC), Fission helped to promote the Civic Data Challenge, a competition that challenged participants to turn raw data of “civic health” into beautiful, useful applications and visualizations to help better understand communities and what is needed to make them thrive.

OurTime

Our Time turned to Fission to use contemporary technology with the goal of registering hundreds of thousands of young people for the November 2012 Presidential election, so that the voice of the new generation is heard. OurTime’s goal was to reach millions of people in order to drive a significant number of new voter registrations. Earthjustice Mountain Heroes Strategy

Earthjustice and Fission worked together on the Mountain Heroes campaign to raise awareness through social media, blogging, and email about mountaintop removal coal mining in Appalachia. Fission created a broad-based social media and email campaign, ultimately presenting a photo petition with 13,696 submissions (exceeding the goal by 270%). As a result of the campaign, Patriot Coal announced that the company would stop mountaintop mining in one state. visit the live site

Define American

When Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Jose Antonio Vargas decided to "come out" as an undocumented immigrant - he came to Fission Strategy. American Wind Energy Association Website Design

Using a new Facebook app, supporters of the American Wind Energy Association are now able to easily post messages directly to the Facebook Pages of their Members of Congress in order to advocate for crucial wind industry legislation. visit the live site

Fission teamed up with the American Wind Energy Association to create a Twitter app that allows supporters easily send Tweets to their Congress Members just by entering their zip code in order to advocate for vital wind energy legislation. View the App

CrowdTangle OWS Facebook App

CrowdTangle can be applied to any base with dispersed membership, including universities, nonprofits, sports fans, bands, trade associations, and other interest groups. A single administrator can find all the related Facebook Groups and Pages and link them together, creating a public space for everyone to see aggregated information.

Sunnybrook Hospital Facebook App

Sunnybrook Hospital’s unique and fun Facebook app provides users with an artistic medium to express their support for the hospital’s patients, staff, and supporters. The app enables users, regardless of where they are, to create personal connections with Sunnybrook by creating and sending hopeful digital origami creations.

Fission Strategy developed an interactive Facebook application and website for the ONE Campus Challenge that encourages university students to take part in ending global poverty. This was done through a Campus Challenge to see who can make the biggest impact.

The Knight Foundation's Apps for Communities Challenge

As part of the Knight Foundation and the FCC’s Apps for Communities campaign, Fission Strategy developed and conducted online outreach strategy that attracted 75 app submissions to make local public information more personalized, usable, and actionable for all Americans.

Voices for America's Children Infographics

In a continued collaboration with Voices for America’s Children, Fission Strategy created weekly infographics aimed at mobilizing supporters to contact the Congressional budget deficit “Super Committee,” to prevent cuts to children’s programs. National Resources Defense Council Facebook App

Working with National Resources Defense Council, Fission developed a new Facebook app that empowered NRDC supporters to quickly and easily send an email to their Representative and Senators from Facebook with one-click. These messages could then also be posted to their legislators’ public Facebook pages.
