Hi, my name is Yaron Schoen and I’m a human interface designer.
Excuse me, what now?
A human interface is the system through which people interact with a machine.
Got it, so you design machines?
My job is to design the machine’s interface in a way that feels intuitive to us humans, so that the interaction between us seems natural.
Whatever. Are you any good at it?
Well, not to toot my own horn, but I’ve had the chance to work with some pretty great companies that have done some pretty amazing things.
Okay Mr. Fancy pants, are you any good at modesty too?
Over the past decade, an estimated 300 million people worldwide have used, on a daily basis, the interfaces I’ve helped design.
I guess not. What else can you tell me about yourself?
When I’m not designing, I blabber about design and life and things on my blog.
What a surprise, he has a blog. Any other hobbies?
I also create electronic music compilations and make my friends buy them on Beatport.
Oh, so now you're a musician too?
All in all, no matter what discipline, I truly enjoy the act of creation, and I love collaborating with smart people.
So let me see if I got it right, you’re a human facing machine coordinator that likes to play in a band?
Well, that conversation went well. Feel free to stick around and read my thoughts on design, or check out some of the things I’ve worked on. Oh, and if you need me, I’m always here.
