Ashley White: Nutritionist and Certified Health Coach at “Learn to be Well”

Why do we have such a love/hate issue with food?  It's something we need every day, yet many of us don't have a healthy relationship with it.

Food is in such abundance in our society that we have all the options necessary to keep ourselves healthy.  Instead, we choose to overeat, undereat, make too many bad choices, and make too few good ones.  Then, we try to compensate by dieting, binging, purging, taking appetite suppressants, smoking … still more bad choices.

All of the ingredients for healthy eating are in front of us, yet we choose to live in a perpetual dysfunctional relationship with food!

It's not the food's fault.  It will never care what we do with it.  It's not as if we can divorce food, either.  This is a one-sided relationship that we need to make work!

This is where Ashley White can help. Ashley is a Nutritionist and Certified Health Coach who has "Been There, Done That."  At six feet tall, she has a stature that many women would kill for, yet she herself suffered from an eating disorder.  Why? Because no matter how we look, there is always a way that we can perceive a problem with our bodies.  For that matter, no matter how we live, no matter how many advantages we have, there is always a way that we can find fault.

It's about perception.  Perception is as individual as we are, and it is shaped by our lives, our experiences, and our relationships.

A positive change in diet can address the symptoms of an eating problem, but if the underlying cause of that problem is not tackled, the problem simply comes back.  This is why commercial, impersonal diet programs are so lucrative:  Each one offers a new hope of getting off the weight loss/weight gain roller coaster.

Ashley uses a holistic approach to help you identify the true cause of your relationship issues with food–whether that is stress, trauma, depression, poor self-esteem, the list goes on–then guides you on a path to better health in mind, body, and spirit. A change in perception and lifestyle, along with a nutritional plan that fits your life, can make a lasting, positive change possible.

Ashley says:

"My approach is not to dwell on calories, carbs, fats, and proteins. It is not to create lists of restrictions or good and bad foods. Instead, I work with my clients to create a happy, healthy life in a way that is flexible, fun and rewarding.

"Together we’ll work to reach your health goals in areas such as achieving optimal weight, reducing food cravings, increasing sleep, and maximizing energy. As we work together, you’ll develop a deeper understanding of the food and lifestyle choices that work best for you and implement lasting changes that will improve your energy, balance and health."
