Welcome

The Cultural Heritage area of the UKOLN Web site was provided over a period during which UKOLN was funded by the MLA (Museums, Libraries and Archives Council) to provide access to a variety of resources on a range of issues of particular relevance to the cultural heritage sector.

However following the demise of the MLA this area of the UKOLN Web site was frozen.

Archive of the Cultural Heritage Web Site

The Cultural Heritage Web Site ceased to be updated at the end of March 2011 following the demise of MLA, who were responsible for funding this work.

In December 2012 and January 2013 more formal management processes for the archiving of the content were implemented. This included:

  • Updating the status of the main entry points and other key entry points.
  • Ensuring that information was available on the key content providers of the Web site
  • Aggregating relevant document-like resources and depositing the collection in Opus, the University of Bath repository.
  • Ensuring that sections of the Web site are available on the Internet Archive
  • Providing an audit of the Web site which summarises the internal link integrity and provides a record of the content of the Web site.

Who Was This Web Site Aimed At?

Anyone with an interest in the use of digital resources and technology in the museums, libraries and archives sector. A good starting point for beginners and a resource bank for those with some experience.

  • The Past events page gives details of workshops, seminars, conference presentations, etc.

  • The Papers page gives details of peer reviewed papers, contributions to books, articles, etc.
