  • Enhancing Design Studies: A Series of Lectures

    spacer The Head of Design Lectures launched into its spring series with a talk in January by celebrated British designer Gareth Williams, Senior Tutor of Design Products at the Royal College of Art. This was followed by lectures from designer, researcher and performer Damon Taylor, who studied his PhD at Falmouth University, and Orsola De Castro, described by The Daily Telegraph's fashion pages as "the ethical fashion designer" and founder of the clothing company ‘From Somewhere,' which makes clothes out of recycled offcuts of luxury materials.

  • Falmouth University academics research on Ideal Homes gains award

    A Design lecturer at Falmouth University has received a prestigious award from the British Academy for her research into ‘Ideal Homes'.
  • Cornwall Artist to be exhibited in Art Prizes First Major Exhibition

    spacer Contemporary Silversmith Abigail Brown, who lectures on BA(Hons) Contemporary Crafts, is to be featured in an international art show in York this spring as the Aesthetica Art Prize launches its first major exhibition. Selected from over 3000 entries, Abigail earned her place in the Aesthetica Art Prize long list of 100 artists with an innovative and outstanding submission, and will have her work projected in the enchanting setting of York St Mary's - York Art Gallery's contemporary art space.
  • Graduate Day Success 2013

    spacer Graphic Design BA(Hons) last week was proud to welcome back eleven alumni a year after they joined the working ranks. Giving current students a chance to ask questions and to hear more about their experiences since graduation.

    ‘We take great pride in our graduates achievements and are always so pleased that they reciprocate with pride in their continued association with Falmouth and our Graphic design course. We have run our Graduate day event for the past five years, inviting a representative group of our alumni to return and describe to the current students their experience since leaving our shores. It illuminates the path ahead, linking their experiences on the course to the demands of industry and offers a realistic perspective regarding the competitive nature of job seeking, offering students tips and advice to help aid the transition.'

  • Dr Deborah Sugg Ryans Studies of Home

    spacer A podcast of Dr Deborah Sugg Ryan's Studies of Home seminar, delivered in December 2012 as part of a series, is now available at historyspot.org.uk

    In her role as a British Academy Mid-Career Research Fellow, Deborah's presentation focuses on ‘The inter-war home: the design and decoration of the suburban house in England.'

  • National interior design competition win

    spacer BA(Hons) Interior Design student Blaze Perrigo has won second place and 500 in a national design competition run by International Decorative Surfaces (IDS)

  • Teachers conference hears call for Design & Technology to stay in curriculum

    A teachers' conference examining the government's proposed changes to the national curriculum for Design & Technology debated the potential damage to student's future career prospects and the wider creative industries.
