The Head of Design Lectures launched into its spring series with a talk in January by celebrated British designer Gareth Williams, Senior Tutor of Design Products at the Royal College of Art. This was followed by lectures from designer, researcher and performer Damon Taylor, who studied his PhD at Falmouth University, and Orsola De Castro, described by The Daily Telegraph's fashion pages as "the ethical fashion designer" and founder of the clothing company ‘From Somewhere,' which makes clothes out of recycled offcuts of luxury materials.
Graphic Design BA(Hons) last week was proud to welcome back eleven alumni a year after they joined the working ranks. Giving current students a chance to ask questions and to hear more about their experiences since graduation.
‘We take great pride in our graduates achievements and are always so pleased that they reciprocate with pride in their continued association with Falmouth and our Graphic design course. We have run our Graduate day event for the past five years, inviting a representative group of our alumni to return and describe to the current students their experience since leaving our shores. It illuminates the path ahead, linking their experiences on the course to the demands of industry and offers a realistic perspective regarding the competitive nature of job seeking, offering students tips and advice to help aid the transition.'
