Niclas officially joined In Flames in December 2010, after the departure of founding member Jesper Strömblad. Niclas has been playing on and off with In Flames since 1997, first replacing Glenn Ljugström (1997-1998) and later on filling in for Jesper Strömblad on occasions.

Besides In Flames, Niclas also play guitar in his band Engel (Named after Niclas nickname, based on his last name Engelin). When not on the road, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends and working on new music.
