APS Accelerator Systems Division
The Accelerator Systems Division (ASD) provides engineering and physics support for the Advanced Photon Source and pursues research and development profitable to the science of accelerators and future light source technologies.
Two 352-MHz/1-kW CW solid state amplifiers developed by the ASD Radio Frequency group, fitted with an aluminum cooling plate on left and copper cooling plate on right. These amplifiers utilize a single laterally-diffused metal oxide semiconductor transistor device with a thermal footprint approximately the size of a fingertip, yet they are capable of exceeding 1-kW CW output power.
