The David and Lucile Packard Foundation is a private foundation. We accept grant proposals only for charitable, educational, or scientific purposes, primarily from tax-exempt, charitable organizations. We do not provide funding for projects that benefit specific individuals or that serve religious purposes.

To learn more about our grantmaking, please visit the What We Fund section of this website and read the descriptions of our program areas, which include:

Conservation and Science

Population and Reproductive Health

Children, Families, and Communities

In addition, via our Local Grantmaking program, the Foundation supports nonprofit organizations in geographic areas that are significant to the Packard family.

Through our Organizational Effectiveness program, the Foundation also assists in building the management capacity of current grantees.

Before preparing a letter of inquiry or grant proposal, we encourage you to carefully review the guidelines and geographic limitations for your area of interest. To find information about current and previous grants, visit our Grants Database.
