General Info and Help page

Greetings. The NCFoodNet is a directory to assist locating and connecting to anyone doing food system work in North Carolina. Anyone can search!  Anyone who registers can create their own new and edit existing entries!   The site is also user managed, so that individuals, after registering with Wordpress and logging in, can add and edit their own profiles.
.
This on-line directory:

.

  • • creates a portal to existing efforts/websites
  • • increases awareness of the breadth of good work already being done
  • • allows searches by location, name, type of work being done, etc.
  • • connects new and existing stakeholders
  • • helps cross the digital divide, encouraging community support, through user-managed profiles and open-editing

.
.

Below you will find some HOW TO directions.  Please, if you have questions after trying to slog through it yourself, contact me directly at tes@unc.edu!!  Happy networking!

.

  • • A data entry page for that profile/contact will come up;
  • .

  • • Make sure to add your org name in the very first blank at the top of the page–as it will allow you and us to search for your entry when editing;
  • .

  • • The next big block is for narrative description;
  • .

  • • The “org name” field is the ORGANIZATION’s NAME AS IT WILL SHOW UP on the top of a profile when it is pulled up in a search–DO NOT LEAVE THIS BLANK
  • .

  • • You can correct or add any incorrect or missing information, or delete the data in fields you would rather have blank (phone numbers, etc);.;

  • .

  • • To add a narrative, simply type or paste info into the large text box NEAR THE TOP of the contact entry page, as this will allow visitors to the site to more fully understand what your org does.
