Rio Tinto Kennecott Scholarships
Rio Tinto Kennecott will award seventeen, $6,000 scholarships in the 2013-2014 academic year. These scholarships are renewable and must be reapplied for each year. Finalists will be contacted for an interview in mid-February. In addition, Rio Tinto Kennecott scholarship recipients will receive high priority for a paid internship for the summer of 2014. AMS fellowship and scholarship programs
AMS is currently accepting applications for the 2013 AMS fellowship and scholarship programs and the 93rd AMS Annual Meeting travel opportunities. The scholarship and fellowship programs are supported by AMS members, corporations, and government agencies nationwide. The information and applications are available on the AMS web site.

Ph.D. student Allison Charland has has just been notified that she is the 2012 recipient of the AMS's Robert Leviton award for "the best student paper on the development or evaluation of atmospheric instrumentation or unique measurement techniques". Her paper, entitled "Application of a Portable Doppler Wind Lidar for Wildfire Plume Measurements", was prepared when she was an MS student at San Jose State University and was presented at the 2012 AMS Annual Meeting in New Orleans, LA in January 2012. The award from the AMS Committee on Measurements was approved by the AMS Council and came with a certificate and cash prize. Congratulations to Allison!
