spacer FACULTY POSITIONS:

The Department of Biology at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) is seeking outstanding candidates for tenure-track faculty positions in neurobiology.  Rank is at the Assistant Professor level.  These positions will join the neurobiology research group focused on aspects of mechanisms of reward and reinforcement learning.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have a Doctoral degree (Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent) in Biology or a related discipline.   PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: UTSA is developing a research focus in the mechanisms of reward and reinforcement learning.  Applicants with research interests in this field, and the structure and function of related brain areas are particularly encouraged to apply.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  These positions will include primary appointments in the Department of Biology at UTSA.  The successful candidate will be expected to establish an independent, externally funded research program, teach courses in the undergraduate and graduate curricula, train PhD students, participate in academic and service activities based on standard UTSA policies for all faculty members, and to contribute to the development of the Neurobiology scientific community at UTSA.

Non Tenure Track Lecturer I Position for Anatomy Instruction

The Department seeks individuals who will serve as instructors and whose teaching experience and qualifications are comparable to those of faculty members in the untenured, tenure track positions, with the exception that a terminal degree is not required for this position. This teaching position may constitute either a part-time or full-time appointment, and the appointments may be for one, two, or more semesters during the calendar year.
Required qualifications:  Master degree in Biology or related discipline.
Preferred qualifications:  Experience in teaching college level courses in human anatomy, either lecture or laboratory.

Detailed job description: The individual hired for this position works under the direct supervision of the Anatomy Laboratory Services Supervisor.  The anatomy laboratory lecturer is assigned the responsibility for daily instruction of the laboratory material.  This individual is responsible for preparation and set up of specimens and materials for the teaching laboratory prior to class meetings, for instructing students during class periods, and for maintaining supplies as needed.  The laboratory lecturer is responsible for assisting students during class and open laboratory meetings, administering examinations, evaluating student performance and the assignment of grades.
