Why we are unhappy of OVH (ovh.it)

By Giovanni Manghi
spacer

Last week we had our main server, housed at OVH, down for almost one full day. This what happened:

  • h 10: errors detected on one server
  • h 11: we ask to change the disks, one by one, to realign RAID and keep our data
  • h 12: server changed, without asking
  • no reply to our enquiries, for hours
  • h 17: after a very long call, they finally admit they cannot put back the disks in place, so our data are lost (obviously we have a good backup, but they did not ask).

So: 3 work days wasted, and a day without our services. Suggestions for a better provider?

We are pleased to announce the restructuring of Faunalia's GIS training offer:

  • Increased focus on user needs, based on the over 150 courses held
  • Simplification of our offer
  • Membership in the program "QGIS friendly courses": Faunalia engages publicly to reinvest a portion of the income of each course in QGIS development
  • New analytical part, much improved on the basis of recent developments of QGIS (with GRASS/SAGA/OTB/Sextante)
  • New course on programming Python plugins for QGIS.

Do not hesitate to ask for further information.

We look forward for your participation
