How to Install and Setup the PrettyPress Theme
Download
First download the theme .zip file using the ‘download’ button in the sidebar.
How to Install The Theme
You have 2 options to install the theme:
- Automatic
If you are using version 2.7+ of wordpress you can simply upload the zip file to activate it.
Log in to your wordpress administration area and navigate to the Appearance > Add New Theme Panel. Now, choose Upload from the links at the top of this panel and Browse for the prettypress-x.x.zip file that you downloaded to your computer already. After you Upload the file you now need to choose Activate to set the theme as your current theme. This is the preferred option since its the easiest. - Manual
If you are using an older version of wordpress then you will need to manually install the theme. First, unzip the prettypress-x.x.zip file and copy the ‘prettypress‘ theme folder to your wordpress themes folder – you do this by connecting via ftp to your web server and copying the ‘prettypress‘ theme folder to the wp-content\themes folder of your wordpress installation. You should now be able to see the PrettyPress theme in the list of themes under Appearance > Themes panel in your wordpress administration area and you can choose Activate to set the theme as your current theme for your site. If you are not sure how to connect by ftp to your web server then seek advice from your web hosting provider.
Setting up the Theme
- Plugins
The theme does not currently use any required plugins so there are no plugins to install - SiteMap Page
There is a sitemap template with the theme if you wish to have a sitemap of your pages and posts. Simply create a new Page, call it ‘Site Map’ or whatever and choose to use the Site Map Template from the Templates drop-down box in attributes box (right-hand side of wordpress administration area). There is no need to create any content for the page so you can leave the content area blank – this will be generated automatically for you. Note, this is a conventional sitemap page that lists links to all your pages and posts, not a Google XML sitemap. The sitemap is quite useful from an SEO point of view if you have alot of pages and posts since you can point a few links to your sitemap and this will help get your pages and posts indexed in Google and other search engines - Logo
You can replace the default blog title with a custom logo of your choice. You simply need to upload a logo image (.jpg .gif .png) to your media folder and the theme will pick it up. Note that the image should be 70px in height or less or else this will liekly change the header size
Free Wordpress Themes and Templates

Follow the download/install instructions in the sidebar (right). If you are running wordpress version 2.7+ then you can install this theme and many others easily via your wordpress administration area, simply by uploading the theme’s zip file and then choosing Activate in the theme pane. Follow the instructions.
