The company is licensed with the State of Illinois under the Transmitters of Money Act (TOMA.) Lifesong Development Group is a registered Money Service Business (MSB) with the U.S. Department of the Treasury. We have maintained our registration with the U.S. Department of the Treasury since 2007. We do so by remaining compliant with all the rules and regulations governing MSB’s under the Bank Secrecy Act and the Anti-Money Laundering Law. These are the same laws banks are governed by in the United States. We are subject to regular reviews by the U.S. Department of the Treasury. In addition, we are required to hire an independent compliance firm to conduct an independent review of the company annually and document that the company is compliant with all regulatory requirements. The compliance firm contracted by Lifesong Development Group, LLC is based out of Washington D.C. The specific the individual whom conducted our last independent review has a lifetime of experience as a compliance officer within the financial industry, holding high level positions with well known financial institutions.
Compliance is one of the company’s single largest expenditures. Companies who offer substantially lower rates than our own may be able to do so by operating in a manner that does not include this expense.
The company retains the services of a law firm based in Washington D.C. as well and has an expertise in the MSB area. The same law firm represents large financial institutions which include other MSB’s such as Google Checkout.
Furthermore, the company maintains a contract with an outside accountant who completes our books on a monthly basis, maintains our records and files our taxes. Our accountant is an Enrolled Agent (EA) and qualified to conduct IRS Audits.
