A celebration for America’s first land grant institution and Kansas’ first public university—its past, present, and future.
The year 2013 marks a milestone for Kansas State University. We are celebrating 150 years of excellence with a birthday bash.
The sesquicentennial is a time for friends, alumni, students, faculty and staff to honor the proud history of our university and look to the future.
It’s no wonder that Kansas State has become an international leader in teaching, learning, extension, service and research. Our founders started the university with a vision for innovative education, and the university opened in 1863 with 52 students as the first fully operational land-grant university in the country.
Kansas State’s storied history and rich tradition of excellence has led to record enrollment and giving numbers, increased research dollars, and internationally recognized programs and research. The university serves the state and nation, and it has improved the world and touched countless lives.
The Kansas State University family can take pride in knowing that we will continue to build upon our previous successes as we approach the next 150 years. The university is striving to become a top 50 public research university by 2025.
We invite our entire family to celebrate our achievements, the Wildcat spirit and the triumph of Kansas State University.
