We are monitoring a sinkhole that occurred Friday morning at the University of South Florida in Tampa that may have affected the clarity of water in some areas of campus. Based on a Department of Health recommendation we are issuing a PRECAUTIONARY BOIL WATER NOTICE. As a precaution, we advise that all water used for drinking or cooking be boiled. A rolling boil of one minute is sufficient. As an alternative, bottled water may be used.
This PRECAUTIONARY BOIL WATER NOTICE will remain in effect until bacteriological tests confirm that the water continues to be safe to drink. Typically the results may take up to 48 hours. An official rescind notice will be issued and posted once satisfactory results are received.
The following buildings are NOT affected by this precautionary boil water notice as they are served by the City of Tampa water supply:
MDC complex FMHI, LRC complex Moffitt complex
MRC, MDO MDT Greek Housing
USF Research Park Religious housing Pizzo Elementary
Shriners Hospital CPH MGX, Y, Z
CMS ALZ NEC
MHB MHF
As information becomes available, we will issue updated notices. You can also visit www.usf.edu for the most current information as the situation develops.
Thank you for your cooperation.
