Vineyards
Owners Ken and Diane Wilson farm over 500 acres of wine grapes in Sonoma County. So when Ken gets the chance to put his stamp on a neglected vineyard, he jumps at the chance. Although he is very proud of his vineyards that rest on the ridges of Sonoma County's most breathtaking Dry Creek mountain sites, he was thrilled to get the chance to purchase land in the Russian River Valley so they could grow Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
The breadth of the Wilson estate fruit—from the foggy beds of the Russian River Valley, the highlands of the Sonoma Coast and the mountainous edges of Dry Creek Valley—gives the wine makers at Matrix an incredible selection grapes. Our estate fruit sources also give us the flexibility to select not only the vineyards for our wines, but a vineyard block or even specific rows.
With our focus on labor-intensive, hands on farming practices we produce low-yield vineyards that result in grapes marked by astounding concentrations of flavors— thus creating wines that are powerful yet elegant.
