Welcome to UC Merced.

Opened in fall 2005, UC Merced is the first major research university built in the 21st century. We invite you to join one of our first entering classes. As a pioneer, you will have the opportunity to shape the structure of campus clubs, activities and organizations, while studying with internationally recognized faculty, chosen for their excellence in teaching and innovation.

Select the group that best applies to you.

Freshman Applicants

The University considers you a freshman applicant if you are applying for UC admission and are either:

-still in high school

-have graduated from high school and have not enrolled in a regular session at any college or university.

If you attend a summer session immediately after graduating from high school, you are still a freshman applicant

Transfer Applicants

The University considers you a transfer applicant if you:

-enrolled in a regular session at another college or university, except while in high school or summer session, immediately following high school.

International Applicants

The University considers you an international applicant if you:

-are required to obtain a student visa to study in the U.S.

Please note: If you are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident studying outside the U.S., you are not considered an international applicant.
