Finding a reputable, reliable mover is critical to any relocation. The Internet has made it easy for almost anyone to create a professional-looking website and claim to be a "mover." In reality, some are fly-by-night operators who may not even own a truck. To provide consumers with a symbol of quality they can trust for interstate moves, AMSA established the ProMover program which certifies that members have passed a background check and agree to uphold our Code of Ethics.
We have several resources available to help you connect with a ProMover. If you have not yet begun to search for a mover, you can use AMSA's Mover Referral Service, which is free for consumers to have up to six ProMovers contact them for an in-home estimate. Many ProMovers (but not all) participate in this service.
If you have already started the process of researching movers and/or have already identified a mover, you can verify if a company is a ProMover by entering their motor carrier number here, or you can see an alphabetical listing of all ProMovers here.
For local moves (within the same state), contact your state moving association, reputable consumer review websites, or ask for references from your family and friends.
