Korn Learning, Assessment, and Social Skills Center (KLASS)

spacer

The Korn Learning, Assessment, and Social Skills (KLASS) Center was established with a donation from Tom and Pam Korn to assist students who struggle with the development of basic academic skills, as well as the social skills, needed to succeed in school.  The Korns, who contributed the money to open the center, moved to East Tennessee from Memphis after retirement. Tom Korn was the founder and CEO of Premier Concepts, a sales and marketing company based in Bentonville, Ark.; Pam Korn spent 32 years as an international flight attendant for Delta Air Lines. The Korns’ son, now an adult, has had to struggle with learning disabilities throughout his childhood and into adulthood. It is these struggles that led the Korns to make the contribution to establish the Center

When fully implemented, the Center will serve preschool to college-aged students. The Center offers an array of programs and services designed to help these students achieve academic success and gain confidence in their ability to address their own academic challenges.  Housed in the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences, the KLASS Center is administered through the School Psychology Program in the Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling.

Associated faculty and graduate students will continue develop and provide innovative and empirically validated methodologies and programs tailored to meet the needs of the students, teachers, and parents taking part in center programs and services.
