LUDLOW ROTARY SEEKS SCHOLARSHIP FUNDING
Submitted by David Almond
The Ludlow Rotary Club has provided scholarships to area collegiate and vocational students for more than 25 years. The cost of secondary education continues to climb at a rapid pace and tough employment conditions require our young people to be more prepared than ever to compete in the marketplace. This is an appeal for the public to supplement the traditional scholarship funds raised by the Ludlow Rotary Club each year.
In 2012, due to generous public support, we were able to award $9,000 in scholarships to Ludlow, Mt. Holly, Plymouth and Cavendish youth, up 50% from those awarded in prior years. With your help, we hope to continue this favorable trend.
Checks should be made payable to the LUDLOW AREA ROTARY CHARITABLE FUND, Inc., with SCHOLARSHIP FUND entered in the memo area of the check, and then mailed to: Ludlow Rotary Club, PO Box 216, Ludlow, VT 05149. The Ludlow Area Rotary Charitable Fund, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) organization under IRS regulations and, accordingly, all such scholarship donations are deductible for federal and state income tax purposes to the full extent permitted by law. The Ludlow Rotary Club will provide documentation for each donation to the scholarship fund.
With your help, more of our young people will be assisted in preparing for the challenging times ahead of them. For more information, please contact Mary Crowley at Mary.K.Crowley@citizensbank.com or on her cell phone at 802-281-2533.

Broadway Comes to Ludlow Auditorium March 23
After months of rehearsals and planning, the 1st Annual “FOLA Follies of 2013″ will take to the stage on Saturday, March 23 at 7 PM at the Ludlow Town Hall Auditorium. Featuring a cast of all-star performers from the Black River area, this musical revue will headline ‘Love-Broadway Style’.
The show will include songs from such hit Broadway musicals as ‘Kiss Me Kate’, ‘Gypsy’, ‘Cats’, and ‘Les Miserables’.
Tesha Buss, a veteran of the Broadway musical stage, is currently directing a regional cast of people in FOLA’s first sponsored musical revue. She indicated she was thrilled to have such a talented and hard-working group to work with. She added, “It’s our first year! We hope for more since this has been a hoot. The cast of this years Follies ranges in age from teenagers to folks that are young at heart. Across the board, our cast has a true love of theatre and a passion to have a whole lot of fun. It’s impressive to have this great group of folks taking time out of their busy lives to dedicate to this beloved American past time.”
In keeping with her own theatrical background, Buss has added choreography to many of the numbers being presented. This has required the cast to augment their singing styles with dance steps that are totally new to them. “I was really surprised how quickly most cast members picked up on the dance steps”, commented Buss.
Cast members include George Thomson, Lisha Klaiber, Linda Thomson, Aiyana Fortin, Sherri Geimer, Joey Blane, Bob Kottkamp, Andy Ohotnicky, David Almond, and Tesha Buss. Cindy Wooton will provide the musical support and Kevin Kuntz will narrate the entire production.
Some of the songs included in the revue are “All I Ask of You” from ‘Phanton of the Opera’, “Memory” from ‘Cats’, “Summertime” from ‘Porgy and Bess’, and “Once I Love with Amy” from ‘Where’s Charley’. Buss indicated that “we have made some well known selections but we wanted to also share some pieces that are far more obscure and that folks may not have heard before. The songs range come from musicals that span the course of about 80 years”.
The show is free and open to everyone; donations are appreciated.

Love, Broadway Style, Theme for FOLA Follies of 2013
Pictured above are three members of the “FOLA Follies of 2013″ as they rehearse in the Ludlow Town Hall Auditorium. From left to right are Joey Blane, George Thomson, and Kevin Kuntz.
“The theme of Broadway and Love was suggested to me when FOLA (Friends of Ludlow Auditorium) asked if I would direct the Follies. Love is universal and sought after by almost everyone, so I knew the audience would connect to the songs and agreed it would be a great theme for our first year.” This was Tesha Buss’ response to the question of what would the 1st annual “FOLA Follies of 2013″, scheduled for the Ludlow Town Hall Auditorium stage on Saturday, March 23 at 7 PM, be all about.
Buss, a veteran of the Broadway musical stage, is currently directing a regional cast of people in FOLA’s first sponsored musical revue. She indicated she was
