From their website:

The word “Venio” is derived from Latin and means “to arise; to come about.” Our ideas are “arising” from our experiences working in and around the E-Discovery market. We have pulled our resources together and introduced a cutting edge E-Discovery software solution created to save legal, government and corporate industries time and money – Venio FPR™

Our Venio FPR™ platform allows forensic units, attorneys and litigation support teams to analyze data, provide an early case assessment, a total case assessment and a first pass review of any size data set. Unlike other E-Discovery management platforms, ours can export to ALL industry standard litigation support applications while providing extensive reporting options.

Sorry I haven’t kept up with this website the last few weeks, but I wante to make sure to mention EPIQ, especially in the the wake of the new acquisition of Encore Discovery last month. Also it seems they are up 10% in revenue in the first quarter of this year from the first quarter last year.

Epiq Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: EPIQ) today announced results of operations for the first quarter 2011 with first quarter operating revenue (total revenue before operating revenue from reimbursed direct costs) of $54.2 million, up 10% compared to $49.1 million for the same period last year. Operating revenue was consistent with the company’s first quarter objectives.

Here is a little more on EPIQ and their e-discovery capabilities from their website:

Your document review can be conducted in our DocuMatrix™ discovery management platform, proven to accelerate review speeds and cut costs. Or we can review in any other hosted platform you choose.

To identify and eliminate inefficiencies in your project, Epiq can assist in the platform selection, strategic testing of key words and other cull methodologies and create efficient workflow processes that benefit not only the document reviewers but the whole legal team.

kCura, the inventors of Relativity are quickly dominating the e-discovery review industry. Their latest conquest was partnering with TechLaw Solutions to wrap up an agreement with the Executive Office of U.S. Attorneys of the DOJ.

kCura, developers of the e-discovery software Relativity, announced with TechLaw Solutions today that the Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys (EOUSA), a component of the U.S. Department of Justice (USDOJ), has adopted Relativity for the review and analysis of electronic and paper-based documents…

…Relativity is being deployed in EOUSA’s Litigation Technology Service Center (LTSC) to provide electronic discovery services for all U.S. Attorneys’ Offices, which include over 6,000 attorneys nationwide.

Also, I have have it on very good sources that Relativity is also being used for at least one side of a major “telecom” merger that’s occurring at the moment.

Is E-Discovery Becoming Certifiable?

by Gabe Acevedo on April 15, 2011

I am sure many people have met someone or another in e-discovery they think is certifiable, but that’s a whole other matter entirely. Here is my latest post from Above The Law:

Recently on my blog I have been posting different viewpoints as to whether the e-discovery industry should have its own specialized certification. In the past year there has been a push by several organizations to establish standards of testing in the industry. In fact, a few weeks ago, the newly formed Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists or ACEDS (prenounced “A-Saids”) held an inaugural conference in Hollywood, Florida. Although ACEDS was just founded last year by the Intriago Group, led by a former McDermott Will & Emery partner, Charles Intriago, the meeting had over 300 attendees — not bad for a first conference.

I had the chance to speak with two attorneys who spoke at the ACEDS meeting. They provided me with a better understanding of whether the movement toward certification is simply a 0assing trend or a sign of things to come…
