Hevia Skin Science: Inspired by Nature, Perfected by Science

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to join in on a webinar with Dr. Hevia and learn more about his new skincare line, Hevia Skin Science, that I’ve been trying out and ask him questions about  the line and skincare in general.  Dr. Hevia is board certified cosmetic dermatologist based out of South Florida who had a vision to crate a superior line of skincare products based on his many years of research and extensive clinical experience. His research concentrates on scientifically active ingredients to help prevent skin aging and encourage skin rejuvenation by sourcing plants from all over the world.

Some of the key ingredients in his new product line are:

• Red Mangrove – chosen for their ability to survice with limited access to fresh water, living in direct sunlight with the roots exposed and find nourishment from non-soil resources. He has the Red Mangrove seedlings that are ecologically grown and harvested, developing the purest Red Mangrove extract possible. Through scientific testing the extract shows a greater antioxidant potency than Vitamin C. 
• Brown Algae – contains phlorotannins, which contain unique and powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Brown Algae can increase the levels of teh SIRT1 anti-aging protein, which protects the lifespan of the cellular genes.
• OH-XI Complex™ – a blend of 11 ingredients that are each proven effective on their own and combined for optimal efficacy.

I’ve been using the “The Specialist” – Potent Repair Serum, which has the highest concentration of these key ingredients leaving the skin brighter, softer, more even-toned and smoother.  According to Dr. Hevia that within a few days you can see some improvements in the skin like less visible pores, lightening of brown spots and texture, but most improvements will be seen in 1-2 months. The serum can be used after chemical peels, microdermabrasion which will increase the benefits of those procedures. I do like the texture of this serum and how it feels on the skin and while I feel that some recent imperfections that have been appearing on my face lately have lessened, more time is needed to see any dramatic changes.

Another product in the line that I’ve been using for several weeks now is the Renewing Hand and Body Cream. It’s always a plus when a body lotion isn’t greasy and absorbs quickly, which this one does.  I’ve focused on my hands and decollete areas rather than whole body, however it can be used all over.  The hand cream helps with the water loss of the epidermis and retains hydration in the delicate skin in those areas. The Renewing Hand and Body Cream has a blend of anti-oxidants and emollients to smooth, firm, lighten and brighten the skin. One thing I’ve noticed since I’ve started using this on my “old lady” hands and decollete are that they’ve become less crepey looking and so I’ve been using this more often than once a day because I like the effects I’ve seen so far.

Another product that I’ve recently started using from the line is the Night Repair Treatment Cream. I only need a small amount as this is very moisturizing and I like how my skin feels when I wake in the morning. It’s not dry, but instead smooth and moisturized.  The Night Repair Treatment Cream has the ingredients discussed above and a combination of unique skin firming ingredients to help boost collagen during our sleep, when our skin does its repair work.

My overall thoughts on the skincare? First off, it was great to listen to Dr. Hevia during the webinar and learn more about the skincare line and the ingredients, their purpose and how they work on the skin. I think this is an excellent skincare line and like the products that I have been using so far. I hope this gets further distribution than online and is FL clinic.
