Norður: Almost Arctic began as a surf trip to a remote region of the West Fjords of Iceland, but quickly became a way to experience the regions history, landscape and understand how a long held set of values and traditions will adjust to fit into a modern world. But like many skilled trades, the sign industry has been overrun by the techno-fueled promise of quicker and cheaper. The resulting proliferation of computer-designed, die-cut vinyl lettering and inkjet printers has ushered a creeping sameness into our landscape.
