What’s the sequester mean to me?

spacer So here we are on the eve of the sequester that’s been the go to topic of conversation on every news channel in America, from NPR to Fox. And yes, if you care about the country and the economic recovery you should be worried, I know I am. But while I want the country to be well off as a whole, and am concerned about the general public’s welfare of course, the real question is – what does the sequester mean for me?

And as if the information gods were listening, came across this on Twitter this morning – thank you Forbes – A Sequester Cheat Sheet: Answers To All The Questions You Were Afraid To Ask.

So what jumped out immediately that would have a direct impact on me was airport security cuts. $323 million worth. I can only translate this into, less security resources mean less security workers and facilities which translate into much longer security lines and procedures. Joy. I fly a lot. Not traveling salesman a lot, but a lot compared to the average American. Upwards of 2 to 3 times a month when work is busy. I’m quite familiar with the Denver, Chicago, DC, and Ft. Lauderdale Airports and I can only cringe at the thought of dramatic security wait times.

So Washington, lets get it together.
