Giving to J. Edgar and Louise S. Monroe Library
The heart of our campus
Donate to the J. Edgar and Louise S. Monroe Library
Private gifts to the J. Edgar and Louise S. Monroe Library make a difference to student learning and creative teaching at Loyola. Our library provides the highest quality learning tools and information to enhance the educational experience for the Loyola community.
Gifts to the Monroe Library Annual Fund are used at the dean’s discretion and can be applied where funds are most needed.
Our Funding Priorities
The Learning Commons
- Center for Teaching and Learning - $300,000
- Innovative teaching studio - $100,000
- Library instruction classroom upgrades - $100,000
Fund for Emerging Technology - $300,000
The Monroe Library was built as a state-of-the-art facility. To adopt new information and instructional technologies and provide them to faculty and students, the library needs additional funding. A $300,000 endowment for emerging technology provides $15,000 annually to support special programs.
Books without End: The Centennial Collection - $200,000
To celebrate Loyola’s centennial in 2012, you can invest $2,012 in this fund and endow the purchase of one book per year for the Monroe Library.
21st Century Library Endowment - $500,000
The 21st Century Library Endowment will ensure that the Monroe Library maintains its leadership role among university libraries and its distinction among library users as a comfortable, inviting, modern space. Endowment gifts begin at $10,000 and include naming opportunities.
Endowment for student assistants - $100,000
Student workers are important staff members in the library, and in the past several years, they have taken on increasingly complex work, including working at the reference desk and providing technology assistance to faculty and students.
