The Nourse
City Arts & Lectures is restoring a theater!
As many of you know, the Herbst Theatre will close for building renovations in May 2013, leaving us and other presenters without a home. Fortuitously, The Nourse Theatre, a beautiful and historic hall just 2 blocks from the Herbst has become available to us. The 1,693-seat venue has excellent acoustics, stunning architecture, but requires $1 million of work. We have already raised over $900,000 and need you – our audience – to help complete our $1 million goal that will enable City Arts & Lectures to live on.
A restored Nourse will offer much-needed space to an abundance of cultural presenters, many of whom find themselves without venues to showcase their work. City Arts & Lectures is excited to restore the Nourse to working order with a minimal amount of repair and redecoration and provide San Franciscans access to a theatre with remarkable character and profound historical significance.
