Dr. Anoush Margaryan

spacer I‌ study how professionals self-regulate their learning in the context of everyday work in knowledge-intensive organisations. Of particular interest is the analysis of profesisonals' emergent patterns of digital technology use to support their learning.  I have been a (Co-)Principal Investigator on a range of projects, my work having received financial support from Shell, Energy Institute, and the UK Higher Education Academy.  I have over 70 publications in technology-enhanced and professional learning, including a book on work-based learning. I have acted as a consultant on professional learning to the industry and international organisations including British Petroleum and World Bank.

Prior to joining Glasgow Caledonian University, I was a Research Fellow and an Associate Director at the International Centre for Research on Learning at University of Dundee in the UK. In 2000-2005 I held research fellowships and visiting lectureship posts at University of Twente in the Netherlands and European Business School in Germany and worked as a Research Analyst at Shell Learning and Leadership Development in the Netherlands. I was a Shell Research Fellow in 2007-2010. In 1997-1998 I was a recipient of a University Fellowship awarded by the Netherlands Organisation for Cooperation in Higher Education (NUFFIC).

I received my PhD in Educational Science and Technology from the faculty of Behavioural Sciences at University of Twente (group of Prof. Betty Collis) in 2006. I hold an MSc degree in Instructional Design, with specialisation in Eductaional Technology (University of Twente, 1998) and an MA degree in Romance-Germanic Philology from Yerevan State University in Armenia (1997).

My contributions to the academic community include membership of JISC Learning and Teaching Innovation Grant evaluation panel; acting as a external PhD reviewer and examiner at Open University of the Netherlands, Tampere University of Technology in Finland and Tallinn University in Estonia; membership of the ECTEL2013, ICL2009 and IADIS eL 2009 Conferences Organising Committees; and refereeing for journals such as Computers and Education, Journal of Computer-Assisted Learning and Journal of Workplace Learning, among others. I co-chair with Prof. Allison Littlejohn the UK national Technology-Enhanced Professional Learning (TEPL) Special Interest Group funded by the Higher Education Academy.  I am a member of the European Association of Research in Learning and Instruction (EARLI).

Further details are available in my CV (last updated on 15 Feb 2013)
