Fresh from starring performances with the San Francisco and New York City Operas, New Century audience favorite Melody Moore reunites with the ensemble for a celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of illustrious composer Benjamin Britten.

New Century performs Vivaldi’s most beloved work, The Four Seasons, in a program that showcases the ensemble’s musicians as soloists in the performance of both timeless classics and new music, including Sogno di Stabat Mater by Featured Composer Lera Auerbach.

Celebrate the kick-off of New Century’s 2013 National Tour with An Evening Serenade Gala. Music Director Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg and the musicians of the New Century Chamber Orchestra will join guests for a special evening of music, food, wine and spirits in the Green Room immediately following the concert in the Herbst Theatre.

“A pianist who balances qualities of excitement and spontaneity with clarity and elegance” (The New York Times), Anne-Marie McDermott joins New Century for a piano concerto by Mozart and Chausson’s Concert for Piano, Violin and String Quartet.

May 23-26, 2013

New Century premieres Sinfonia for Strings (Primera Luz) by Featured Composer Lera Auerbach, one of the most widely performed composers of the new generation, alongside Wagner’s romantic Siegfried Idyll, a tribute to the bicentennial of Wagner’s birth, and Haydn’s theatrical “Farewell” Symphony.
