Guidelines

What is your favorite book of the year?

The Atmospheric Science Librarians International seek nominations for the best book published each year. They present ASLI’s CHOICE AWARD for the best book of the year in the fields of meteorology / climatology / atmospheric sciences during the Annual American Meteorological Society meeting.

The books are judged on nine criteria (based on the GSIS criteria for ANSARI Best Reference Work):

  • uniqueness
  • comprehensiveness
  • usefulness
  • quality
  • authoritativeness
  • organization
  • illustrations/diagrams
  • competition
  • and references.

To qualify, the book has to have a copyright date from the current year and can be in any format and at any reading level: college, research, general audience, children’s, reference. Any language is accepted.

Deadline for submissions: November 1.

Nominations may also be submitted to the CHOICE AWARD Committee Chair. See the e-mail and mailing addresses provided below.

The winners are posted to the ASLI listserv and to the ASLI website after the announcement at the annual AMS conference.
