MAPM - Creating a Commons

The MAPM network is a commons for social change activists in Minnesota. A virtual town square where participating organizations post their actions and events, promote targeted eletters, petitions or national boycotts, create online fundraisers; and, to achieve common goals, gather allies and build issue based cooperative relationships with other organizations across the state and across state lines.
The MAPM network is part of a larger commons of 40 networks, (over 1600 organizations) the Peace Justice and Environment Project (pjep.org), that serves all 50 states. The PJEP networks offer organizations (homepage news articles) and individuals (blog entries) space to share news and opinion pieces with activists throughout the country. PJEP networks also share a resource library (growing all the time) of docs, videos, audio files and weblinks that are available to any visitor to the site(s). Add your organization to the Commons. Register to get email alerts from MAPM.

Techno-Utopianism Seminar Report

spacer I have just returned from San Francisco where I attended a private seminar called "Techno-Utopianism: Killing the World" with about 30 leading environmentalists, scientists, economists, writers, and activists. I was asked to represent the Global Network and report on the latest space technology issues including drones, global strike systems, surveillance, and the like. It was quite an honor to be invited to attend this event and I learned a great deal from those assembled. The event was led by Jerry Mander (Int'l Forum on Globalization), Andrew Kimbrell (Int'l Center for Technology... [ more ]
