Fr.
Harak, a long-time peace activist, is professor of theology and director of the
Center for Peacemaking at Marquette University. From 2003 to 2007, he served
as
the Anti-Militarism Coordinator of the War Resisters League. Fr. Harak also helped found Voices in the Wilderness,
which was three times nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. He holds a Ph.D. in
ethics from Notre Dame and is the author of several books on ethics, culture
and nonviolence.
Pax Christi MA Supports Local Groups With Grants
Pax Christi MA offers small grants
of up to $250 to support the work of local groups. Local groups may request no more than one
grant per year. Priority will be given
to programs/projects in the following areas:
Education/activities promoting Catholic Social Teaching in parishes
Education in the
spirituality of nonviolence
Ending military engagement and working for reconciliation in war-torn areas,especially Afghanistan and Iraq
Education/advocacy for immigration reform and ending racism

Retreat Leader Marie Dennis
Marie Dennis is the director of the Maryknoll Office for Global Concerns in Washington, DC. A laywoman and mother of six adult children, she has worked for Maryknoll since 1989, focusing on Africa and the global economy, particularly debt. Her books include St. Francis and the Foolishness of God and Oscar Romero: Reflections on His Life and Writings. She is the co-president of Pax Christi International, past chairperson of the Pax Christi USA national council and an Ambassador of Peace for Pax Christi USA. Marie is a member of the Assisi Community in Washington, D.C. and is a contributing editor for Sojourners magazine. She offers retreats and workshops on topics of social justice, peacemaking and nonviolence.
