Grant Writer
Stephen Landowne joined the Office of Research in December 2010. His primary work is to assist the College of Sciences’ faculty members in developing competitive grant applications for all types of externally sponsored research activities, ranging from single-investigator projects to multi-disciplinary/multi-institutional collaborations. Stephen has previously served as Associate Dean for Academic Research for the United States Military Academy at West Point, Research Scientist at Argonne National Laboratory, and Program Officer at the National Science Foundation. His doctorate degree is from Carnegie-Mellon University in nuclear physics.
Grant Writing services include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:
- Assist with developing faculty ideas and interests into project proposals to compete for external funding.
- Assist with identifying potential sources of external funding.
- Analyze solicitations to clarify and advise faculty on proposal requirements.
- Provide specific guidance on proposal writing and editing support.
- Assist in obtaining letters of support and required institutional documents.
- Assist with assembling collaborative teams for multi-disciplinary/multi-institutional projects.
- Coordinate other grant-related resources.
