Quick Link to Real-Time Data (Quick look: Real-time data typically are recorded at 15-60 minute intervals, stored onsite, and then transmitted to USGS offices every 1 to 4 hours, depending on the data relay technique used. Recording and transmission times may be more frequent during critical events. Data from real-time sites are relayed to USGS offices via satellite, telephone, and/or radio and are available for viewing within minutes of arrival.

Hydrologic Tools Now Available

Below are links to Web sites that can help you view South Carolina water data and to analyze historical hydrologic processes in the state.

South Carolina Water Science Center RiverCam

spacer We now have a webcam installation on Rocky Branch Creek in Columbia to allow you to view current river-stage conditions and archived flood events.

USGS WaterAlert: Instant Information about Current Water Conditions

Now you can receive instant, customized updates about water conditions by subscribing to WaterAlert, a new service from the U.S. Geological Survey. Whether you are watching for floods, interested in recreational activities or concerned about the quality of water in your well, WaterAlert allows you to receive daily or hourly updates about current conditions in rivers, lakes and groundwater when they match conditions of concern to you. Alerts are provided via text message or email for any station you select.

National Water Information System: Mapper

The new NWIS Mapper provides an interactive map interface to all USGS water data (historical and current). (Note: To access data, zoom in on the map to level 11 or greater to make the individual sites clickable.)

Google maps deliver current streamflow conditions

We recently added a Google-map based Web page to deliver map-based current surface-water resources conditions in South Carolina.

Historical instantaneous unit values

Historical streamflow unit values are now available through the USGS Instantaneous Data Archive (IDA)

Current streamflow rating tables

Shift-adjusted ratings are now available to you on line; they are updated daily and can change frequently.
