Sheikh Muhammad Hussein is PA Mufti and speaker at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the highest religious official in the Palestinian Authority. He was appointed by Chairman Mahmoud Abbas.
At an event celebrating the anniversary of the founding of Fatah, Hussein presented the killing of Jews by Muslims as a religious Islamic goal. He cited the Hadith (Islamic tradition attributed to Muhammad) which states that the Hour of Resurrection will not come until Muslims fight the Jews and kill them:
Moderator at Fatah ceremony: "Our war with the descendants of the apes and pigs (i.e., Jews) is a war of religion and faith. Long Live Fatah!
[I invite you,] our honorable Sheikh."
PA Mufti, Muhammad Hussein: "47 years ago the [Fatah] revolution started. Which revolution? The modern revolution
of the Palestinian people’s history.
In fact, Palestine in its entirety is a revolution,
since [Caliph] Umar came [to conquer Jerusalem, 637 CE],
and continuing today, and until the End of Days.
The reliable Hadith (tradition attributed to Muhammad),
in the two reliable collections, Bukhari and Muslim, says:
'The Hour [of Resurrection] will not come until you fight the Jews.
The Jew will hide behind stones or trees.
Then the stones or trees will call:
"Oh Muslim, servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him."
Except the Gharqad tree [which will keep silent].'
Therefore it is no wonder that you see Gharqad [trees]
surrounding the [Israeli] settlements and colonies.
[Gharqad trees] surrounding, surrounding and surrounding.
That’s the Palestine we are talking about,
with the beginning of the Jihad and the continuation of the Jihad
with the struggle and the procession of the Martyrs."

This is not the only time that the Mufti has incited to murder and hatred against Jews in the name of Islam. At a funeral ceremony for terrorists, the Mufti promoted terror against Israel, saying that the terrorists’ souls “tell us to follow in their path.” [PA TV (Fatah), May 31, 2012]
He has preached on numerous occasions that Islam is at war with Jews and Israel. In a sermon at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in 2010, he preached that the Jews are the "enemies of Allah." [Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, June 26, 2010] He has also repeatedly called on Palestinians to carry out Ribat (religious conflict/war) for Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, as in the following example:
"The Mufti of Jerusalem and speaker at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, Sheikh Muhammad Hussein, praised the residents' response to calls to come to the Al-Aqsa Mosque and to maintain Ribat (religious conflict/war)... His honor [Hussein] appealed yesterday to the Ribat fighters in the Al-Aqsa plazas and emphasized that the practical response to the threats of the occupation… against the Al-Aqsa Mosque is to remain there, in large numbers…”

“The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian territories, Sheikh Muhammad Hussein warned of the occupation authorities’ intention to allow settlers and foreign tourists to break into the Al-Aqsa Mosque from the Cotton Merchants’ Gate… The Mufti said that this attack is an integral part of the series of daily attacks whose purpose is to tighten control on the Al-Aqsa Mosque and build the alleged Temple in its place.”

In the congregation were numerous Palestinian Authority dignitaries, including Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah; Advisor to Chairman Mahmoud Abbas on NGOs and Fatah Central Committee Member Sultan Abu Al-Einein; Minister of the Interior Said Abu-Ali; and Member of Parliament and Secretary-General of the National Initiative Movement former Minister of Information Mustafa Barghouti.
Mufti Muhammad Hussein: “We are a nation whose position on this land is [one of] two things: It's either to live in honor and glory on this land, or to be under it as Shahids (Martyrs), just like the first generations of Muslims and Shahids of our nation. Yes, this path and course was chosen for us, because this blessed land needs our sacrifice, even if it be our lives.”

And Allah is omnipotent. It is stated in a Hadith that the honorable Prophet, Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him, said: ‘A group [of people] from among my nation will adhere to their religion and defeat their enemies, they will not be harmed by those who oppose them, until Allah makes His ruling.
We said: ‘Oh Messenger of Allah, where are they?’
He answered: ‘They are in Jerusalem and its surroundings.’”

A reception was held in Jerusalem for released Palestinian prisoner Bilal Abu Hussein. The reception was attended by Fatah Central Committee member Othman Abu Gharbieh, District Governor of Jerusalem and PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ representative Adnan Al-Husseini and PA Mufti Muhammad Hussein. A sign at the reception indicated that it was a Fatah event.
PA Mufti Muhammad Hussein: “Netanyahu told the US Secretary of State on the eve of the release of our brave prisoners: ‘Mahmoud Abbas and the highest echelons of the Palestinian leadership are celebrating and welcoming murderers – in their words, of course – do they want peace?’ We say: ‘If only this man [Netanyahu] would call the real murderer a murderer.’ He, his government and his political parties built a shrine for the perpetrator of the foulest massacre in human history, in the Ibrahimi Mosque (i.e., Cave of the Patriarchs) - for [Baruch] Goldstein, the real murderer (NOTE: This is untrue, see note below)...
We and the Palestinian leadership... are celebrating, among the highest echelons, the leadership and the nation, the reception of brother Bilal [Abu Hussein] and the stars of Palestine… We grandly welcome the prisoners because they are the pioneers of our sacrifice and freedom, and are worthy of celebration. We are celebrating in your honor Bilal – [you, who are] moons that light the skies of Jerusalem and Palestine… He who sacrifices for his homeland will remain a hero, remain a leader and remain worthy of being admired by us.”

PA Mufti: Israeli officials call to invade Al-Aqsa Mosque "to build their alleged Temple"

The following article was published in the context of a proposed law (May 2013) being reviewed in Israeli Parliament that would allow for both Jews and Muslims to pray on the Temple Mount. The law seeks to implement separate prayer times for Muslims and Jews at the site. The PA Mufti’s response was to call it an "invasion of the mosque... in order to build their alleged Temple":

"The [PA] Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian territories Sheikh Muhammad Hussein summoned citizens to the Al-Aqsa Mosque in order to fill it and defend it, especially in light of recent threats from extremist settlers and senior Israeli officials who called for an invasion of the mosque and to impose Israeli sovereignty over it in order to build their alleged Temple.
In a press release, Sheikh Hussein warned that the extremists’ actions, supported by the highest political echelons and defended by the occupation authorities, have increased noticeably of late, constituting a threat to the Al-Aqsa Mosque. He added that the occupation authorities are taking advantage of the rift among Palestinians and of the Arab and Muslim engagement [elsewhere,] in order to carry out their plans. He warned that these authorities intend to grab control of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and divide it (i.e., between Jews and Muslims). Also, he called on the Arab nation and the Ummah (Islamic nation) to act effectively before it is too late, in order to save the Al-Aqsa Mosque."
