Back in the day (the 1930’s to be exact) Keds, premiered “Booster,” a low cost and simple flat walk shoe which just about anyone could afford. Later on, the Booster, and many other shoes like it, took on the name “Wino” for obvious reasons. The cost kept it on the feet of just about anyone who needed footwear.

Today, Keds, re-issues the Booster with some design help from our favorite cobble, Mark McNairy. Using similar “red brick” colors found on his in-line  collections. The “hopsack” canvas upper does them right. Three colorways start it off. Look for them in August. Urban Outfitters will carry them.

These leather dweller shoes by Regal for Japan’s nonnative are winners with their Gore-tex additions. While they will keep the upper dry, do note that the spillage over the top could get into that footbed and sock. Avoid deep swamps but do not fear the puddles. Florals galore. Liberty is seeing a strong resurgence of florals from their archive and for good reason. The fashion world has been waiting on something bolder and fresher for some time. We don’t mind florals but it would be nice to see more toile. Left Field delivers a series of polos with some wonderful Liberty Print on the liner. Five polos are available: three stripes and two melange. “Details include genuine Mother of Pearl buttons, a contrast collar, Liberty of London floral print lining inside the collar and placket, and an embroidered logo on the chest.” U.S.A. built.

Laos born designer, Hien Le is one of the newcomers in the Berlin fashion scene. The designer presented his Spring/Summer 2012 collection during the Mercedes-Benz Berlin Fashion Week. A graduate of the University of Applied Sciences in Berlin, Le has worked across the agency and sales level. Two years ago, Le went on his own and delivered his first collection. Today he continues this move forward. “Besides concentrating on discreet cuts and the subtle application of details, he consequently maintains his claim to manufacture clothing that combines diligent design with accurate workmanship, everything produced in Germany.”
