Classic Arcade List

spacer

The third gate is open and it’s the mother of all challenges. Found a great resource in Aurcade to locate a classic arcade in your area. These guys devour when it comes to details – even have what stand ups the arcade has in operation (now, I don’t know how current the list is…). So, check it our here.

And… let’s hear it for Ernie – for totally keeping it true and for not dumbing things down to appease the masses. The third gate is the essence of Ready Player One. That said, back to ’85.

Gunterpedia.org

spacer Whether you run solo or roll with a Gunter clan, everybody needs some help from the interwebs once and awhile… So check out Gunterpedia.org. Looks to be a promising resource in the future and already has some interesting pages like “Anorak’s Almanac” with a listing of quotes from the man himself, a scoreboard for the current easter egg hunt, and a page called “Aech’s Basement” to allow gunters to get their chat on. Go check it out… and remember, nobody likes a Pendergast (he sucks).

Ready Player One

Ready Player One Easter Egg Hunt - Contest Announcement

The first gate is open in Ernie Cline’s “Ready Player One” contest for the launch of the paperback edition and I have to say it is totally boss.

Let me sum up this freak bomb of awesome sauce:

  • First Ernie hides an easter egg message for a website within the pages of his book… and keeps it secret the entire time
  • Next, he creates a contest that is so reminiscent of RP1 that I just want to curl up in a ball and laugh myself to peeville
  • Then he works with video game designers to create a brand new Atari 2600 game as the first gate challenge and god knows what for all the other gates
  • Finally, to crown him the Galactic King of Bad Assness, he offers a prize… to the winner… and its a Delorean….. (I can’t speak because I’m smiling so freaking hard)

His skill of execution from the beginning to the end (hopefully that never comes) with this book and the experience he has provided his audience has been flawless. Thanks Ernie, right now you’re totally my favorite dude.
