#GamerGate: Ok @Gawker, What Are You Going To Do Next?

Gawker fucked up, hard. And they are dying. No site can lose that kind of money and live. But before we go any further, let’s give you a couple of primer videos that explains what #GamerGate is all about:

Link

Link

Link

Link

I am going to be brutally honest here and admit that I don’t follow #GamerGate like I should. But that is ok, that is why God brought forth Internet Aristocrat into this world. Without him, I would not know of Gawker’s epic fuck-up and coming collapse:

The GamerGate movement is continuing to have an impact, since it’s now being reported that Gawker Media Group has lost advertising revenue from BMW, Mercedes, and Adobe over the alleged “bullying” of gamers.

Alleged, because #GamerGate didn’t start this fight. I want to digress here and note that Internet Aristocrat asked resently why has #GamerGate lasted so long as opposed to other internet causes. The answer is that gamers were provoked into action by SJWs and dishonest journalists. On the other hand, OWS tried to provoked Wall Street and instead pissed everyone off. Anonymous tried to provoked Scientology (and I agree it is a cult that needs to be stopped) and, aside from a few counter-protest tactics, basicly laughed at Anonymous. Inquisitr article goes on:

In the case of Adobe, it’s alleged that Gawker editor in chief Max Read, and another Gawker writer named Sam Biddle, published tweets that apparently condoning bullying of “nerds” and gamers. Although Gawker published a front-page statement saying they did not condone bullying, the damage had already been done.

The potential effect Gamergate may have on Gawker cannot be understated. Internet-only media like Gawker rely on advertisers exclusively for their income, so when major advertisers like BMW and Adobe pull out, it’s got to hurt.

According to Breitbart, Gawker’s Max Read was recently quoted as saying, “I’ve been told that we’ve lost thousands of dollars already, and could potentially lose thousands more, if not millions.”

Now Gawker is being slapped with a unrelated lawsuit:

Unpaid interns for the website Gawker.com have won a round in court in their attempt to bring a class-action suit under the Fair Labor Standards Act…

The court ruled the interns performed work similar to that of paid employees, contributed content to Gawker’s publications, moderated sections of its websites and received primarily on-the-job training. They had to follow Gawker’s general policies, were supervised in the same way as employees and received communications from management in the same way employees did. They also used the same internal communications systems employees did, were expected to work independently and received no special training or instruction. In other words, the company treated the interns just like employees in all ways except one—they weren’t paid.

Sarah Grieco notes that the real bully, is indeed Gawker:

Was Biddle’s tweet really a joke? Probably. But it’s no secret that Gawker is the bully of the internet. It regularly takes down “weaker” competitors* – the textbook definition of bullying. In the high school hallway that is the New York media scene, Gawker Media is the Biff Tannen-type, shoving whoever they want into a locker.

The art behind Gawker’s ridicule is that they make fun of people and media sites without being overtly cruel. While BuzzFeed seems to be their favorite punching bag*, The New York Times enjoys a steady stream of bashing, and Gawker writers openly hate direct competitor Vice*. Gawker is now long-established, and its snark is often smart, but it still postures like it’s the underdog, a pose that works since its enormous audience essentially looks like better-informed redditors.

Gawker depicts its actions as an internet watchdog role, an upstart taking on the bigger guys. But it really just looks jealous of competitor traffic, despite bringing in around 60 million unique visitors a month.

Also, they going after Lena Dunham* for (get this) being racist. I can think of many adjectives for Lena Dunham, but racist is not one of them.

So the next question for Gawker, what now? There’s nothing really you can do. #GamerGate has transformed into a political debate on feminism, cultural marxism, and the liberal media and you are not fighting it on those terms. And insulting your former sponsors* is not going to bring them back. You are trying to fight a shadow and it isn’t going to work. You currently have a lawsuit on your hands and I suggest you focus on that front next, before you completely lose your shirt**.

Well, see ya’ later!

#FLGov: If You Can’t Beat #EarlyVoting, Join Them!

There’s an old southern saying: “The second kick from the mule is of no educational value.”

The RPOF seems to have taken that message to heart. In 2012 we were betten senseless in early voting and GOTV efforts by national Democrats. This year I must have gotten no less than three calls from the RPOF before early voting started asking me if I was going to vote early. Not to vote on election day, but vote early. Florida Republicans have taken seriously early voting and/or absentee ballots, because holy fuck do the numbers bare this out:

559,133 registered Republicans have voted early or absentee, 421,425 registered Democrats, and 198,423 independent (NPA in Florida) or other. That’s about a 47 percent to 36 percent advantage. These numbers are also three days old and I am hearing this morning that we are leading them now by as much as 160K votes. To put this in context, there are more registered Democrats than registered Republicans in the state of Florida.

Unlike my GOP or RPOF brothers and sisters, I have always supported early voting and for a couple of good reasons. There is no “weekend” any more. I have never heald a “nine to five” job that gave me Sunday and Saturday off, unless my schedule just happens to fall on those days. Early voting gives people a chance to vote on their schedule. It also deflates the pressure on election day polling places, since there isn’t a mad rush to vote on election day. Now I will say we shouldn’t go crazy with early voting and limit it to two or three weeks out from election day.

I may have my problems with Rick Scott. However they pale when it comes to my problems with Charlie Crist. I hope that once Crist is defeated here again, he will slink away on his belly and never return.

Well, see ya’ later!

The Swamp #9

All you pendejos better listen-up!

The Swamp #9: #WarOnWomen, #Islamophobia, #ImmigrationReform, @SooperMexican Guest!

In which Laura talks about the current state of the so-called “War On Women” (which we conservatives somehow can’t shake off). I want to end this Islamophobia nonsense, because we are being attacked by Lone “Religion Of Peace” members and now Canada isn’t safe anymore. Then Sooper Mexican stops by and, as a follow up of sorts to the border podcast, we talk about immigration reform. Laura unfortunately couldn’t make it to Sooper’s segment, but I did suggest that he invite Laura onto a future episode of his podcast. But before you listen, check out my Patreon Page!

#NoOn2: #Florida Businesses Say No Too

As some of you know, I am against the so-called ‘medical’ marijuana amendment here in Florida for many reasons. However I am not the only one. Here are the Florida business organizations in their own words:

“Normally we focus on creating jobs, improving education and making Florida more competitive, but this is the type of business Florida can do without. I find it curious that the largest funder of this push to legalize pot is a personal injury trial lawyer firm, yet such measures are overwhelmingly opposed by Florida’s medical and law enforcement community. Florida voters are smart and when the facts are on the table, I believe they will say no to drugs in Florida.” – Mark Wilson, president and CEO of the Florida Chamber of Commerce

“Florida businesses cannot afford the tarnished image this Amendment would bring to our business-friendly state nor the negative consequences that increased marijuana use and availability will have in our neighborhoods and communities. Simply put, Amendment 2 is bad for business and bad for Florida.” – Tom Feeney, president and CEO of Associated Industries of Florida

“CFHLA Leadership will not support an ambiguous legislation that defies federal law without medical legitimacy, especially an amendment that would turn Florida into one of the nation’s easiest states for individuals to acquire ‘medical’ marijuana certification.” – Resolution by Central Florida Hotel & Lodging Association

“The provisions of Amendment 2 threaten Floridians’ quality of life because they are too nebulous, too loose and too lacking in common-sense protection from inappropriate and dangerous use.” – Steve Halverson, chairman of the Florida Council of 100

The Associated Builders and Contractors of Florida and the Florida Trucking Association have also come out against this awful amendment. Please go to No On 2 to learn more about this amendment or go to my podcast on the subject.
