Meteonorm contains worldwide weather data which you can retrieve in over 35 data formats. Be it as an Excel file for manual analysis or be it as an import to your photovoltaic, solar thermal or building simulation software.
Meteonorm contains the best foundation: 8'325 weather stations, five geostationary satellites and 30 years of experience. On this basis, state of the art interpolation models deliver global data with highest accuracy.
List of all features / Video
Irradiation and other weather data for any location on Earth.
The database is fed by 8'325 weather stations worldwide as well as by five geostationary satellites with global coverage.
Built-in state of the art interpolation models deliver data for any location worldwide with a precision compareable to measurements.
The standard is 1991–2010 for irradiation and 2000–2009 for other parameters; other periods can be selected.
Current data can be accessed online directly from the software. User data can also be imported.
Meteonorm contains several climate change scenarios, so you can also plan for the future.
Global radiation, direct radiation, temperature, precipitation, humidity, wind etc. See the list of all parameters.
Meteonorm delivers monthly, hourly and even minute values.
More than 35 output formats are available: CSV, TMY2, TMY3, EPW, PVSol, PVSyst, Polysun etc. See the list of all formats.
4 simple steps to your data.
Meteonorm is a comprehensive meteorological reference data base. It gives you access to a catalogue of meteorological data for solar applications and system design at any desired location in the world. It is based on more than 25 years of experience in the development of meteorological databases for energy applications. Meteonorm addresses engineers, planners, investors, architects, teachers and anyone interested in solar energy and climatology.
You require a specific data set or analysis? We offer a range of customizeable products and services based on Meteonorm.
The measurement archive contains historical, unaltered data from meteorological stations or satellites out of our Meteonorm archive.
A Meteonorm dataset is the right choice if you require location specific meteorological data once or occasionally for your assessments or calculations.
With the Horicatcher you can digitize the local horizon and shadowing situation efficiently and precisely. Import the horizon into Meteonorm for even more precise results.
We produce maps with any meteorological parameter for any region in the world between 62° S and 62° N.
For software producers: Your software can access Meteonorm datasets directly using an integrated plugin. Offer your clients added value!
Our expertises are individually customized assessments of the solar irradiation at your project site and for your specific requirements.
A solar cadaster is an inventory of each roof in a town, commune or region, its orientation, inclination and irradiation as well as the corresponding solar potential.
Meteotest is the company behind the product Meteonorm.
Meteotest was founded 1981 as an independent private company. Our team consists of approximately 40 scientists, engineers and software developers.
Meteotest is committed to ecological issues and a sound working environment since it was founded. The majority of the company is owned by the employees. This aspect is a guarantee for the long term successful strategy of our company as well as a high dedication towards our clients.
In this environment, the first version of Meteonorm was created in the early 80ies thanks to intensive research activities in collaboration with universities and the industry. Since then Meteonorm has been continously developed. Today it is considered as an industry reference for solar resources and is successfully used worldwide.

The measurement archive contains a selection of monthly mean values of a meteorological station. Archives are only available for the locations of measurement stations (no interpolations).
For better coverage, you can order a measurement archive of the satellite data contained in Meteonorm.
After your order, we will check the availability of the specified time period and parameters. The order will only be carried out after your reconfirmation.

A Meteonorm dataset is the right choice if you require location specific meteorological data once or occasionally for your assessments or calculations.
A Meteonorm dataset contains values of the required weather parameters for a typical year in the selected time intervall (minute, 10-minute, hourly or daily values). The typical year corresponds to the long term mean and is therefore the reference for assessments and planning purposes.

With the Horicatcher you can digitize the local horizon and shadowing situation efficiently and precisely. Import the horizon into Meteonorm for even more precise results.
From the horizon data, Meteonorm calculates limitations of the sunshine duration and irradiation due to obstacles. The result can be analyzed directly in the field.
The Horicatcher tool within the Meteonorm software calculates the sun's orbit, which is put in relation with the horizon. Meteonorm takes into account the reduced solar energy input, the sunshine duration and sun exposure.
Using meteonorm horicatcher, Meteotest also provides individual sunshine exposure analyses. Aus us for a quote!
A horizon mirror, the camera and the mounting device are attached to a regular photographic tripod. The built-in circular level allows a precise leveling of the device. The following components are included in the delivery:

We produce maps with any meteorological parameter for any region in the world between 62° S and 62° N.
Meteonorm maps are based on the Meteonorm database and the Meteonorm interpolation algorithms. As each map point is calculated separately, the production of a Meteonorm map requires a lot of computing power.
Direct normal (beam) radiation as well as global radiation maps are the most requested ones. However, we can produce maps for virtually any meteorological parameter.

Our expertises are individually customized assessments of the solar irradiation at your project site and for your specific requirements.
Our experts analyse all available data sources and provide you with a trustworthy and independent first or second opinion on the solar irradiation.
An expertise is the ideal supplement to the Meteonorm software. It takes external data sources into account which are not available through the software.
Usually, our expertises contain information on the following topics:
An expertise contains a detailed analysis of the uncertainty of the solar assessment. The uncertainty mainly depends on the number and the quality of weather stations available in the vicinity of your site. Different data sources – including different satellite data – are compared and taken into account.
Our expertise gives you access to 25 years of experience in solar resource assessment.
