McCombs Ranks First for Best Business School Profs

McCombs topped the nation for best professors in the latest edition of The Princeton Review’s annual guide to business schools.
In the student-led attribute rankings of “The Best 294 Business Schools: 2012 Edition” McCombs ranked No. 1 out of 294 schools in the “Best Professors” category, up from No. 3 last year and No. 8 the year before.
The Best Professors category asked students to rate professors on their teaching abilities and accessibility outside the classroom.
The ranking survey reports:
Students love their professors, who are “very accessible and knowledgeable” and “have had practical work experience that makes them that much better.” “Ninety-five percent of the instructors are very engaging, accessible, intelligent, inspiring, and passionate about the material they teach.” This “excellent” faculty is a “good mix of academics with a strong history of research and practitioners who have real-world knowledge,” such as “leading researchers and ex-CEOs.” “Class content is nicely divided up between theory, case, and simulation.” One student says, “It has been more challenging than I could have ever imagined, but after going through this, I know I will be prepared for anything.”
The Princeton Review compiled this list, and 10 others, primarily by surveying the opinions of more than 19,000 students at AACSB-accredited business programs. Students were asked to complete an 80-question survey about themselves, their career plans, and their schools’ academics, student body and campus life. Surveys from the past three academic years are combined for the rankings. Only a few of the 11 categories involve institutional data.
The top spot for professors comes on the heels of another top-10 Princeton Review ranking. Last month McCombs was ranked eighth in the nation for graduate entrepreneurship in Princeton Review’s annual collaboration with Entrepreneurship magazine.
