Detectives from our
Investigative Division become involved in cases that require
additional or timely follow up. Generally, these are the
more serious cases.
Detectives also respond for
cases where crime scenes need to be processed.
Our Detective Division
consists of highly trained investigators. While larger
agencies can afford to have units of detectives specialized
in different crimes, the detectives in our division have to
be skilled in all areas.
They attend schools and
seminars each year to keep abreast on the latest
investigative techniques on everything from lifting
fingerprints to collecting specimens for DNA analysis.
As with most law enforcement
agencies, our detectives carry a heavy caseload. In spite of
this, they review all cases that come across their desks.
The tools of our detective
bureau range from camera and surveillance equipment to
specialized clothing allowing entry into hazardous crime
scenes. We also trade back and forth equipment from other
law enforcement agencies wherever possible to ease the
burden on the local taxpayers.
However, gadgets alone will
not solve crimes. All the equipment in the world will not
make any municipality safer. It takes detectives who know
the town, know the people, and know their job. We are proud
of the fact that the detectives from the Freehold Borough
Police Department excel in all of these areas.
